Kepez

District with a Bird’s Eye View to Antalya: Kepez

Once a landscape adorned with rocks, bush, and lush vegetation, Kepez has evolved into one of Antalya’s five central districts, even claiming the title of the most populous. Nestled between Döşemealtı to the north and northwest, Konyaaltı to the southwest, Muratpaşa to the south, and Aksu to the east, Kepez plays a crucial role in supplying the city’s water needs through its power plants. As the gateway to Antalya, its very name, Kepez, translates to ‘cliff.’

Kepez History: In bygone days, public transportation delineated its boundaries, and the rocky, bush-covered terrain only began to be developed in the mid-1970s, coinciding with the city’s growth due to immigration. With the acquisition of these lands, the first district of Çallı was born, and in 1994, Kepez Municipality was established as the region’s population continued to grow.

Within this district lies Lyrboton Kome Ancient City, boasting a history dating back 2,200 years as the largest olive oil production village of its time.

Natural Beauties: Among the district’s most alluring attractions are the Upper Düden Waterfall, a beloved spot for both locals and foreign travelers, Kepez City Forest, fondly referred to as Antalya’s lungs, and the sprawling 2630-decare Vakıf Olive Grove, home to 25 thousand trees.

The observation terrace at Kepez’s entrance, reminiscent of a cliff, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Antalya, captivating all who visit.

Local Flavors: Kepez cuisine boasts stew dishes with seafood or meat, each seasoned with a delightful blend of spices. Slow-cooked in stone ovens, these local specialties create a true festival of flavors to delight the senses.
