Korkuteli

Highlands District, The Capital of Mushroom Korkuteli

Korkuteli, which is one of the rare districts that does not have a coastline and 60 km from the city center, has a privileged location. Located at an altitude of about 1020 meters above sea level, Korkuteli is not affected by Antalya’s famous hot and humid weather thanks to this geographical advantage. This makes it a residential area with a cool and refreshing climate.

Another striking feature of Korkuteli is that it is one of the regions where the camera surveillance system was tried for the first time in Turkey and the crime rate is the lowest. This means that locals and visitors alike can live in safety and peace.

With its natural beauties, peaceful atmosphere and safe environment, Korkuteli is one of the favorite districts of Antalya and is full of beauties waiting to be discovered.

Korkuteli History: The area, which was included in the Psidia region and adjacent to Pamphylia in ancient times, passed under the rule of the Anatolian Seljuks in the 12th century, following the Macedonian, Roman and Byzantine civilizations. In the 16th century, it was included within the borders of the Ottoman Empire and was preferred as a winter settlement. The most striking of the historical ruins in this region is Termessos in the Güllük Mountain National Park and is one of the best preserved ancient cities of our country. The ancient theatre, temples, baths and other structures shed light on the rich history of the region with their architectural beauties and details and offer a magnificent experience for those who want to experience and witness the fascinating atmosphere of the past.

Natural Beauties: The western lands of Korkuteli are surrounded by Akdağ and Elmalı Mountains that extend in parallel. The eastern part is surrounded by the northern extensions of the Beydağları, which makes the region quite hilly. The mountainous regions are surrounded by a rich forest cover and dazzle with their natural beauty. Among the most important plains of the region are the Korkuteli Plain and the northeast extension of this plain, Bozova.

Güllük Mountain National Park, located in the eastern part of the district, is an important travel and holiday region with its magnificent natural and historical values. This national park offers its visitors an enchanting atmosphere.

You can reach the Güver Cliff Canyon, a mysterious beauty in Korkuteli district, with a journey through the forest. At the end of this 6 km forest journey, deep valleys and extraordinary landscapes will be waiting for you.

In addition, the most famous of the Korkuteli highlands, which the locals prefer especially in the hot months, are the İmecik, Varsak and Yazır highlands.

Local Flavors: Korkuteli district is the leader in cultivated mushroom production with an impressive 70% of our country’s mushroom production. Also, burnt ice cream, known as the famous “Antalya’s ice cream”, is produced from goat’s milk and is among Korkuteli’s assertive flavors.
